Logon Issues
« on: June 12, 2017, 09:24:53 PM »
So I'm all excited, logon to the forum only to receive this message "Sorry hloni, you are banned from using this forum!
Trolling
This ban is set to expire July 09, 2017, 10:02:30 PM.".
Is it just me or are we all having logon issues? Haven't received any direct message from banner explaining why if I'm the only one banned. I know Zuma can hire and fire as he wishes, didn't know that applied to this forum too.

I'm sure there is a valid reason as long as you have been behaving yourself.

Have you tried contacting one of the admins?

I've got an adblocker so it doesn't show up for me but that's probably the reason.  :rules: We like to keep things PG here.

It would be great if an admin could weigh in here :help:

*EDIT* I momentarily disabled the adblocker and it looks like ads pop up under each post except your own reply so that's not a hloni issue

HI guys
I checked the logs and found this
Added ban triggers: Member: hloni   June 09, 2017, 10:02:30 PM   Stanthescooterman   FORUM MODERATOR
Lets ask Stan why?  ( i will delete the trigger in the meantime)
If a Mod instate a BAN Trigger, the MOD is supposed to put a reason there, so that other MODS can see why something was done. He also could have instated the trigger in error.

Update: It seems Stan was trying to get rid of a particular spammer that was spamming our Open Board (the one where you dont need to register) and the spammer had the same IP as Hloni. Sometimes it happens that two or more IPs are the same. Sorry about that.
I will ask that MODS rather ad BAN TRIGGERS on Emails used by these spammer to post, than blocking the IP. If the spammers then change emails to keep spamming, they must let me know. I can then go into our server settings and block their MAC addresses.

MM...the ads you see inbetween the posts sometimes are based on the cookies communication between your pc and our server. Take FB for instance. You browse GUMTREE for instance. The next time you open your FB you find GUMTREE ads inbetween your FB posts.
Works the same here.
My concern is that you are seeing ARAB WOMAN...LOL.   That indicates that you must have done a search on your browser with the words ARAB WOMAN at some stage.

Guys....same goes if you look at porn. Your pc stores the cookies of those web pages. Next time you open NEWS 24..you might find porn ads...LOL> Dont say I did not warn you...LOL

For instance. Ive been looking around on pc shops to buy a new laptop. See what ad i suddenly find on my screen..a website i spent a lot of time on
There is a lot of info that you are not aware of that is being shared between your pc and the server you are  visiting. Its scary if you find out how much is actually shared. That is why I use a dedicated browser to do my private stuff IE> banking. I only use opera and only open one bank site and no other sites on it. A real hacker can catch the data packets between your pc and a server on an unsecure website and get your private info. Clear your browsing history after each session. Especially cookies. Be WWW wise.
Dont do FB and banking from the same browser. FB has cookies that mine your pc for info. PROMISE!!!

Hmmm, interesting topic! Thanks Slang for that - currently my ad only says convert doc to pdf. I last remember looking for that a year back. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and delete all cookies!

Why am I not surprised? Well, this isn't the 1st time Stan "exercises his authority" on my posts. I genuinely doubt the reason given to be valid "spammer". I've been around here long enough to see through the murky waters.

I can't seem to directly contact the Mods as a guest, so I'm hoping that this can be looked into. I'm still banned.

If Stan doesn't want me on the forum, just say buddy, and I will sadly move on. I honestly cannot have you policing my thoughts on an open forum, and me having to tip toe around you. I know, you gonna delete this too, so be my guest and block ALL my devices from this forum.

Hloni. I know my use of English grammar is bad, but surely its not that bad that you dont get the drift of my message.
You are not BANNED
None of your previous posts has been moved, deleted, edited, etc. You want prove of that, tell me and I will forward you the whole damn moderation log file.
The only thing Stan did, was to block a hacking attempt...and he instated a ban trigger on a IP adress. Not on you. And if you think your IP is adresse is unique and it was deliberate, please go and read up on IP adresses.

You are making very serious allegations. I will follow up on them, but I will be the first one to intervene if there is ANY happenings of that sort.

Moderators are volunteers. No one is paid or gets any special treatment. We are all adults.

I am not going to allow anymore of these type of posts....there is many other so called sa biking forums out there that has a dedicated team dealing with hurt feelings, paranoia, sarcasm, insults, etc.

The MO of this forum...You talk to others here as if you are standing next to them at a braai.

I suggest you refresh your browser IE> delete cookies, etc. It could be that your browser loads the last stored page> I found that if you hit CTRL and F5 together, it forces your browser to load the most recent page.

my email is admin at sascooters dot co dot za
Drop me an email if you still cant get in and lets see if we can do something else to sort your issue out.

I even went as far as to update the whole forum software to the latest version, the past 10 minutes.
Biking and scootering is such a big passion and part of my life...i really want everyone to enjoy it.
Please email me if you are still stuck.

I went through all the settings just now. I flushed the cache, cleared all old setting, etc...just in case it was something on my side that stopped you from logging in.

You know what is the biggest problem with biking and scootering these days? We are not riding enough!!!!

Yes, it works. Tried earlier today, around lunch time, and I still had the "ban message".
I logon my mobile device, so no CTRL F5 matter.

My previous post and words I can utter at a braai or a Sunday church service. A previous post was edited by the admin, I subsequently requested it be pulled down. You can have a look at the conversation in my inbox/PM. I love this forum, and am also active on a few other biking and automotive forums, so I understand rules of engagements. Some forums are "egg shell" discussions, whilst others so long as there is respect for each other, moderating is minimal.

I'm closing this thread with the following words from Stan:
"I understand, in hindsight, that protocol under the circumstances, calls for a warning, before a temporary ban / expulsion, and that my ban was possibly excessive at 30 days.".

I believe it is only correct to set the record straight that I wasn't hurling false accusation in my post dated 16 June 2017.

I will leave the IP explanation to the IT experts.

... but not before Stan has had his R0.02, before "History gets changed overnight by editing history"

I will share the full conclusion of my private communication with Hloni, not just the part he carefully chose, so that we can get a more representative indication of where things stand.

"I recently started the forum member usage poll and Hloni, still butt-hurt and resentful, posted a sulky remark on that thread, which according to public definition, falls clearly under the definition of trolling. I deleted that post. [and placed a temporary ban him, because he and I both know that it was directed at me, taking a dump on my thread!]

I understand, in hindsight, that protocol under the circumstances, calls for a warning, before a temporary ban / expulsion, and that my ban was possibly excessive at 30 days.

Consider yourself duly warned, Hloni.

On the flipside, no I don’t want you to be on your way, we would love to have you here, but if you’re going to stay, and if you want to have your say in future, then there are better & more appropriate ways of  doing this, than the way you have.

Talk to me directly, and do so in private and let’s look at ways of fixing the problem, but If you are going to turn it into a public fight, as a relative noob yourself, don’t expect to be met with kindness.

I consider the matter closed, so welcome back Hloni, and wishing you safe & happy scooting!

Stan."

So lets go forth with the intention of trying to see what I as an individual can do about contributing more positively, by making popcorn and not just eating it, and what I can do differently next time.
