Some fun reading from Tian Bester on his 125cc Zontes

Home is where your bike sits still long enough to leave a few drops of oil on the ground.

Nice one.

Take that all you Chinese Scooter hating snobs!!!
Life  should NOT be a journey to the grave with the  intention of arriving safely in an attractive  and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in  sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in  the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Scooter AND small bike forum...

You miss my point ... I'm talking about the OP's article (not the debatable forum topic parameters) which was about a bike (not a scooter) with the wheel diameter*, suspension travel* and ground clearance* to handle that kind of terrain, ridden correctly - nothing to crow about.

Do it on a Big Boy Revival or Moto Mia Java scooter and THAT would be an achievement, though 50/50 chances are it would have been a 1-way trip.  :chance:

I've done Die Hel and it's a trip of a lifetime, but choose your steed (and your plan B) well!

Tian Bester made it back not in spite of the bike's factory of origin, but because he happened to be on a motorcycle shape* more suited to the terrain. :thankyou:

Thank you - your cheque is in the mail

Cheque mate!

 :java:

So no, they are not one and the same.

In my neck of the woods - and the roads are sh*te - most of the Takealot and Mr D riders are on Chinese geared motorcycles, though admittedly held together mostly with cable ties, duct tape, wire and prayer
