Suzuki Burgman Drive Belt
« on: February 07, 2018, 07:22:28 AM »
Hello,

I have been quoted over R3.5k for a drive belt from Suzuki.

Any suggestions on a good alternative locally or a reliable online shop to buy at a better price?

Thanks

You can try places the sell belting like the Bearing Man Group, http://www.bearingman.co.za/pages/home.asp

You would probably need to take in a sample or all the sizing info printed on the back of the belt.

Other than a Suzuki part you won't get an alternative locally. I don't have any experience with overseas Suzuki parts either, so can't help. Try Bikebandit.com? Bringing parts in is tricky, expensive and almost impossible unless you use a reputable courier.

See if you can find it on amazon, as they have worldwide shipping, and fast, with customs fee build in, so no surprises when it gets here.

Any online shop that can sell you a Gates belt with the correct dimensions will do.

Just bear in mind that JIMC is a total shambles and its could take weeks or months for your parcel to find it's way from ORT to you.

Found one on Banggood.com for R245.00 odd although they are presently: "Under restocking. It will be available soon." At that price one might as well buy a few and have some spares handy. They offer free shipping (7-35 Business days) on many items including this one. Faster shipping will obviously add many $$$ to the cost.

Bought some stuff from them before and it does take a while to get to you because Customs and Post Office are not the fastest chaps around so patience is key. They ship to PO Boxes which suites me perfectly and then only pay the VAT and Customs clearance fees to the PO. Spares shouldn't have any duties payable.

 It's often the luck of the draw.  My last order from them came in three parcels as they came from different warehouses and yes, the last one took little over 2 months to get to me. Then again about 18 months ago we ordered a set of adjustable rear control arms for my son's car from the US and on this odd occasion Customs and the Post Office were on the ball and I picked the items up from the PO in less than 2 weeks (The shipping was more than the items we bought ).

Not having to pay for shipping is worth the wait for me, I'm stingy that way.
