Good morning on a beautiful wet Saturday morning!
My name is Ian Saunders and I have a 1982 Yamaha 50. I think it is a Riva....
It is in great condition (having done under 4 000km) but has not run for a number of years. I have managed to get it running but need some help/advice on a few issues.
1.   It has a strange fuel supply system. There is the supply from the tank which feeds into a device that has a diaphragm inside with 2 pipes leading out. 1 goes to the carb and the one looks as though it is a vacuum pipe also feeding into the carb. The issue is that it leaks like a sieve. The diaphragm looks OK. Any ideas on how I can stop it leaking?
2.   The scooter starts easily but only at idle. I have taken the carb apart, cleaned it and all appears to be working. What have I done wrong? How can I get it to respond to accelerator input.
3.   Do you by any chance have, or know where I can buy a decent repair manual for this scooter. I did order one from an online place in the UK (EManual Online). The download of this manual is terrible with very indistinct diagrams/photos. I am fighting them to give my money back but am losing the battle!!
I see from your web site that you do not like involved sms/email discussions. Soooo agree with that as it takes me ages to type ( I'm one of those BBC children!!!!). My contact details are:
                Cell: 083 325 4998
             .
I would really like to get this little bit of history up and running as I have not seen another one on the road.

Kind regards.
Ian

If only we had a Face Palm emoji. Maybe just  for them, best we can do...
I had a guy sending me a PM a while ago with similar requests. Suggested to him to Introduce himself (gave him the link) and them the guys with knowledge of his scoot would be able to help/advise him. So receive another PM from him introducing himself... I gave up... Pity I cleaned out all my PM's

Pity that you cannot charge for your time and advice!!
Home is where your bike sits still long enough to leave a few drops of oil on the ground.

LOL, quite a classic.

On a SA forum we were talking about painting, prep, primer etc and an adult asked whats a clearcoat.

Then on an international forum, a dutchman (Holland not Bellville) asked what would be the easiest way to make a 30rpm 220V ac motor turn.
So I said connect it to the house power socket, the reply was, "what do I need to buy to do that?"
So I posted a pic. :)
Smetimes I wonder about the rest of the humans, like how did they make it this far? :)
